Listening to The Cure.
Trevor and four of his mates turned up on our ‘street’, ready for a fight. Martin (who's dead handy for this sort of thing, so I'm glad he's here) and I told our intermediary (Kier, of course – silly cow) that we’d be out in ten minutes. This gave us time to put boots on and prepare some bits of wood, but when we got outside they ran off!

‘I got my Eagle and British Spider-Man comics from the supermarket in Wisbech. Mum and George bought Jack and me a BMX bike each. I’ve never had a bike before. I couldn’t ride one when I was little, but after all these years of not having one I find I can ride it perfectly well. I really like it.’
