‘Caislean Oir’ – Clannad
It was with regret that I heard the news of the death of Lord Olivier today. Although not particularly appreciative of his work, I have enjoyed his performances in films such as Wuthering Heights and Rebecca. He did, in his final days, make a very deep impression upon me. His acting – particularly his Shakespeare work – provide a particular inspiration.
I think his death is a blow to the whole world of theatre and I find it has hit me very deeply. I mourn his passing. Yes, he was the master.
