‘Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)’ – The Doors
Today, Larry Goodgirl (our tutor), Ben Fletcher (Macbeth) + Jodie Ratcliffe (from my group) were on RADIO NORFOLK, plugging Macbeth. Larry also spoke in a debate about the Actor’s Union, EQUITY. He slammed, quite rightly, the London Drama School Syndrome. He is presently arguing a case with the Arts Council + EQUITY, etc, that courses like the BTEC at NORCAT are as good – if not better – than a Drama School education and should be equally accredited. He believes that by the end of our course in 1990, the BTEC students should automatically receive EQUITY cards. I hope this happens. At least the pressure on EQUITY is there…
The Set, Lighting and Stage Management Teams met the construction men from Bircham Newton and the Council Works manager. All agreed to go ahead with my Stage design, providing no harm or damage comes to the Chapel or the surrounding parkland. Dates for construction have also been negotiated. I am pleased.
