‘Let’s
Go To Bed 12-inch’ – The Cure
Picture
if you will, a room of sky blue walls, only half decorated. Against one wall, a stacked stereo, from the
speakers of which emanates the sound of The Cure, performing the dying strains of their lovely 12-inch version of ‘Let’s Go to Bed’.
Outside
a small net curtained window, the air is smells damp, but the rains have
finally died away. On a blue-quilted
bed, a solitary figure sits, writing. He
is young and unshaven, from idleness.
His hair is messy, to say the least.
Before he got caught in the rain, it was very nice, but now it is a
dishevelled heap of matted hairspray and straw.
The figure is clad in black and purple.
His name is Jez, and he
doesn’t understand why it had to rain today, so he listens to ‘Let’s Go to Bed’
for the second time, because its brilliant sound makes him happy
YES,
CHIDDIES! IT IS 7.55pm ON THE EVENING OF MAY 1ST 1987!
Hello,
Flash!
Well,
what’s happened?
Things
started off pretty dull, but later on I got chatting with Jo Jordan, the li’l Goth who I thought (or is it ‘think’) I fancied
(do I still?) a while back. She
introduced me to her alternative mates who were visiting Tech for the day. They were
a New Model Army fan called Becky and a
Mish/Sisters/Balaam/Deutschland/Jezebel fan called Nicki, both of whom have just left school. Well, it turned out that Becky fancies Kevin.
He told me he liked her, but later on decided that he hates her. Becky still fancies him, though, and wants to
see him on Tuesday. Kevin might come
over to see me on Monday. Hope so. She’s a bit of a Top Goth, but I began to
like Nicki and, apparently, she began to like me, so things began to look
hopeful. I think I’m quite entranced by Nicki,
ackcheloi. I quite ‘fancy’ her, even
though I fancy many others. She and Becky
are coming back into Tech on Tuesday, so we’ll have a larf.
Oh
well. The weekend begins.
