Nine Years From Now: 11/11/94

NINE YEARS FROM NOW…

Lilith bought me a Doctor Who book this week: St Anthony’s Fire by Mark Gatiss. I’m very grateful to her for this, and I shall read it when I go on tour.

At the moment, I’m reading The Kenneth Williams Diaries, given to me by my landlord and it’s fascinating. It has inspired me to become and actor (luckily, I have been on one for the last 3 ½ years), but more importantly it has inspired me to keep a diary (luckily, I’ve been keeping one for well over 11 years).

Tonight was well worthwhile. Lili and I went to the pictures to see Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (De Niro fans, ahoy!). In the reviews, the critics have been slagging it off, but I’m sorry, it was a work of genius. It was a pacey, splendid and exciting film. I found myself wishing I didn’t know the story, because it was so atmospheric and I envied those in the audience who had no idea how things would go. Some of Kenneth Branagh’s own innovations within the story (concerning the female creature) resonated with the version I wrote at NORCAT and did something similar. I was so impressed. Great minds, eh?
