Shelly Watson (A Memory)

'King For A Day' - Thompson Twins

Shit was school.

I’ve been thinking about Shelly Watson, a girl I used to go out with in Pontefract, back in 1982. A love from long ago, when life was such a show. We were together in a loving bond. So warm in days of joy and total love, with friends behind us, and a peace like that of the dove, warm like a glove. Shelly, Shelly, remember me…

This time 8 years ago:‘I watched Doctor Who: The Invisible Enemy (Part Three).

This time 4 years ago:‘I bought Smash Hits for the Adam Ant poster.

It also featured stuff on Duran Duran, Madness, The Jam, Altered Images and Hazel O’Connor...

...I also got Blake’s 7 Monthly issue 1.’

This time 2 years ago:Paul (Jack's dad) came down to stay with us. He pretended he was a toothpaste salesman to the customers in the pub. I bought some more comics and watched Marilyn Monroe in All About Eve

…but she was hardly in it.’
