The Death of Aunty Dorothy

I was supposed to get the train to Gran Winterfood’s in the next few days, but she phoned to postpone my visit, as my Aunty Dorothy (Granddad’s sister) has died of a heart attack.

I tidied my Christmas mess and worked on an Outside Bar.

Daphne rang from Pontefract to tell us she’s coming to stay.

Here comes 1985

As hoped, I went up town with Mandy and Stu. Mandy was worried. Someone had phoned her, saying I’d been ‘going’ with other girls! Liars!

Colecovision

‘Games Without Frontiers’ – Peter Gabriel

Mum and George argued – massively.

I played on Jack’s new Colecovision video console (Ladybug, Time Pilot and Carnival) nearly all day.

Falling Out with Mandy in Wisbech Rain

‘Eyes Without A Face’ – Billy Idol

I went up town. I sort of fell out with Mandy just before she went home. For the rest of the afternoon I went round with Stu, Dave and Paula, who’s mad.

It rained. Just a bit.

Fourteen Years From Now: 21/12/98

Fourteen Years From Now...

'Sax & Violins' - Talking Heads

I spent the early hours of this morning at work, drinking wine with Wendy, Pixie, Ulrika, Gina and Jerry Li. He hung on until long after the girls left, and when he finally did I, depressingly, rang Betty (I knew she'd be up). Just as I was about to go to bed, Ray walked in, so we had a whisky and talked till just after 3am.
I came to bed, pissed out of my tree and slept through most of today.

I got a card from Lilith today. It said, 'Happy New Year, my love - May the New Year bring you joy. Don't lose touch.' I gather from this that she has not received my long letter. I will not dwell on this.

North Brink Christian Party

This evening, Stu and I went to a Christian party at a house on North Brink. Mr ‘Superman’ Smith – our Chemistry teacher and friend – was partly organising it. I danced with school mate Sally Matthews. Stu danced with a pretty blonde girl called Paula – he loves her! He’s meeting her on Saturday!

Ice-Skating and Spider-Man

‘The Waves’ – Wang Chung

Churchill House went on a trip to Peterborough skating rink today – ice-skating, that is. I went round with Stu and while in Peterborough I bought a Marvel Tales and a Peter Parker.

Me?  Don't worry about who I am - you can find out all this stuff as we go...
